Woodstock residents have easy access to Atlanta and its variety of entertainment options. But for those who would rather stay close to home, Woodstock provides plenty of its own entertainment in the form of special events, parks and other recreational facilities. The city hosts 4th of July events, the Christmas Jubilee and Brown Bag Concerts in the Woodstock City Park. Dupree Park offers two softball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a covered pavilion, a walking trail, a lake and a playground area.

Located within Woodstock is the master planned community of Towne Lake. This self-sufficient community is home to a number of first-rate facilities including 18-hole golf courses, tennis courts, a fitness center, excellent schools, shops and restaurants. Towne Lake also hosts its own annual events, including craft shows, holiday festivals and community service events such as blood drives.

The rest of Cherokee County is home to plenty of attractions as well. Numerous golf courses, the only fully functional dairy in Georgia, the Crescent Farm Historical Center, Gibbs Botanical Gardens, and Dixie Speedway provide opportunities for fun and educational enrichment.

There are also two lakes in the greater Cherokee area that serve as great vacation spots for Woodstock residents. Lake Allatoona offers camping, beaches, hiking trails, rental cabins, marinas, boat rentals, restaurants and breathtaking scenery. Lake Arrowhead has golf courses, a 500-acre mountain lake for fishing and boating, tennis courts, cottages for rent and clubhouse privileges.

For those who really like to get involved in community happenings, there are many organizations and interest groups to join in Woodstock. Just a few of these include the Cherokee County Historical Society, the Cherokee Humane Society, the Committee for Responsible Development, and the MOMS Club of Woodstock.
